The Loop

  • The Loop is a club for performers interested in practicing and performing long form improv comedy. Members enjoy the opportunity to attend weekly practices where they are guided by a professional coach to hone their skills in this artform. The Loop is also a "show generator." Members are assembled into ensembles in order to gain performance opportunities at Seattle Comedy Theater’s Sidecar Theater.

Training for each season is currently focused on the Armando-based format.

The Loop’s purpose is to help participants learn to create high-quality long form improv shows in Seattle Comedy Theater’s Sidecar Theater in weekend primetime slots. In order to accomplish this, The Loop trains improvisers to be bold risk-takers who demonstrate resilience and energy, to offer hilarious performances with honesty and heart.

  • We’re committed to providing a space for indie groups to have spaces to perform, get professional coaching and feedback, perform for live audiences, build community and have the opportunity to see some of our main stage shows at Seattle Comedy Theater for free.

  • Practices are Sundays at Seattle Comedy Theater. Season 13 of The Loop will be offered in the Fall of 2026.

  • The Loop operates in seasons of ~8 weeks.

  • Anyone who auditions must have taken a minimum of three course levels with an established improv comedy theater or organization.

  • Members must audition. Auditions will take place in September of 2026.

  • The Loop will have a maximum of 16-18 performers.

  • Yes. For the time being, we'll be holding a new audition for each season of The Loop.

  • The Loop costs $175 to participate. About 85% of tuition goes to Loop coaches, 10% to box office and bartender staff and 5% towards administrative costs. Seattle Comedy Theater is committed to paying our staff and coaches  and keeping costs low for Loop performers to participate.

  • Loop coaches at Seattle Comedy Theater rotate each season. Every coach is a seasoned cast member at Seattle Comedy Theater who performs regularly in our main stage Armando shows, including Full Disclosure and Dubious Advice.

    • Professional coaching with individual-specific feedback.

    • Being a member of The Loop removes many of the burdensome aspects of being in an improv ensemble, The Loop provides:

      • Regular weekly practices

      • Space to practice

      • Coaching from two different coaches on staff at Seattle Comedy Theater

      • Performance opportunities

  • Members of The Loop will be cast onto teams by their coaches. Selections will be based on the number of people in The Loop, their availability for practices and shows, and a willingness to learn and be coached.

  • This will depend on the number of shows produced per season and the number of Loop performers. Our goal is to give as many performance opportunities as possible without inducing "burnout". Last season The Loop had five shows.

    • 3-3:30pm Group warm-ups

    • 3:30pm-5:50pm Team Practice with your groups (Break included)

    • 5:50pm-6pm Group Closing with both groups

  • The next season of The Loop will be in Fall 2026. Stay tuned for more info!
